What is the Environmental Leadership Academy?

The Keep Prince William Beautiful Environmental Leadership Academy (ELA) is a selective leadership development program for motivated Prince William County high school juniors who are passionate about the environment and demonstrate leadership. The ELA focuses on preparing the next generation of environmental leaders to make them part of a community response to preserve, educate, enhance, and sustain our community and environment by taking into account the people, culture and economy of Prince William County.

The Academy is a two-day leadership retreat with classes focused on the following topics: leadership and environmental stewardship, community beautification, litter prevention, recycling, and storm drain awareness activities for the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Participants will learn from world-class, engaging presenters, hands-on activities, as well as a service project. Those selected to attend the Environmental Leadership Academy will be required to sign a Commitment to Action to provide education to at least 10 others on a topic presented at the Academy.

The Environmental Leadership Academy will be held in May 25-26, 2017.
