Local environmental non-profit supporting Occoquan District Beautification Goal

Woodbridge, Va. – Ruth M. Anderson, Occoquan District Supervisor for the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, announced today a close collaboration between Anderson’s office and Keep Prince William Beautiful, a nearly four-decade-old environmental service organization, to achieve Anderson’s goal of beautification for the Occoquan District. In this collaboration, Keep Prince William Beautiful and Anderson’s office are working on a concerted effort to: identify areas for beautification projects; promote the Adopt-A-Spot Program; and to organize community clean-ups among businesses and community groups throughout the Occoquan District. Beautification here includes: painting, planting, liter removal, and ‘face-lifting’ project areas.

“I have set a robust agenda for my office in serving the citizens of the Occoquan District,” said Anderson, “One of our goals is the beautification of our District, and we are delighted to work closely with Keep Prince William Beautiful to that end.”

Since the formal collaboration began, Keep Prince William Beautiful and Supervisor Anderson’s office have already removed nearly 100 bags of trash from roadways and public areas with volunteers, including the Boys Scouts of America. Anderson and her office staff have even adopted a spot to keep clean and green near Devil’s Reach Road through the Adopt a Spot Program.

“We are delighted to support Supervisor Ruth Anderson and her goal of beautification for the Occoquan District. It is a great example of how Keep Prince William Beautiful and our volunteers and programs can make a difference in the community. We encourage everyone to explore how they can get involved in keeping Prince William County a clean, green, and vibrant place to live,” said Jason Parsons, Executive Director of Keep Prince William Beautiful.
