Litter Survey — 1st Quarter

August 5, 2015 @ 8:45 am - 1:00 pm

Spot that litter by conducting a quick litter survey of our county while riding in a comfortable, heated van. Acquiring this data is integral in assessing the needs of our communities with regards to litter control and removal.  After the survey, join us for lunch at a local restaurant while we discuss our litter survey experience and brainstorm how we can improve and help our community.

*New volunteers will need to arrive at our main office at 8:45 AM for brief training on the litter index scale.

The Litter  Survey is a tool developed by Keep America Beautiful to help its affiliates and their communities to identify problem areas. This entails a volunteer group of people who ride through the community and rate present litter.  Volunteers make observations about the type and volume of litter that they see, then rate each area on a 1 – 4 scale.  This information is then compiled into a report that is sent to Keep America Beautiful and used by Prince William County to determine problem areas and improvements.

Litter Index Scale

  1. Represents “No Litter”
  2. Represents “Slightly Littered”
  3. Represents “Littered”
  4. Represents “Extremely Littered”

*Please note that VolunteerSpot will ask for your email address and additional information.  This information is collected so that we can contact you with event/program details.  We do not sell your information.
