America Recycles Day
Will you be making the pledge? On November 15th, Prince William County will join communities across the nation in celebration of America Recycles Day (ARD). ARD, an initiative of Keep America Beautiful, is an annual awareness campaign dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States since 1997, making this day the 26th annual celebration.
All area residents are encouraged to take the America Recycles Day “I Recycle” pledge. Participants may win a $300 REI gift card, plus a $500 environmental grant for a local school if the winner is in kindergarten to grade 12. Make your pledge at www.mwcog.org/recyclesday through Nov. 20. The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments will announce the winner in December.
County staff and KPWB staff will be available at Central Library on Nov. 14 and Chinn Park Regional Library on Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to talk with residents about recycling in Prince William County and the “I Recycle” pledge contest.
