This webinar will discuss successful tactics and strategies employed by trail programs across the country to engage lawmakers in securing public funding and innovative policy initiatives that support the development of trail networks in leading communities. These political and trail community leaders discuss the importance of recreational/active transportation trails in helping communities to thrive via economic development, health & safety, environmental sustainability and inclusiveness/diversity. This webinar will highlight best practices for collaboration among advocates, decision makers, and key stakeholders in their efforts to facilitate transformative trail projects, emphasizing critical lessons learned.

This webinar be moderated in a forum format with curated questions that the presenters will answer, but will also allow time for additional attendee questions.

Ashley Jones-Wisner, Principal Owner, Ashley JW, LLC

Ashley Jones-Wisner, principal owner, most recently served as Senior Director of Public Affairs for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), where she spearheaded communications and legislative affairs efforts for the agency. Ashley left KDHE in June in order to establish Ashley JW. Prior to working at KDHE, she was State Policy Director for the nonprofit KC Healthy Kids, where she garnered national attention for her work to reduce the sales tax on food. Ashley holds a BA in Marketing from Baker University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas
