Invasive Plant Removal
Leopold’s Preserve is a 380 acre nature preserve in western Prince William county with more than 7 miles of walking trails and interpretive signage for passive recreation. We also offer guided naturalist walks in partnership with the Bull Run Mountains Conservancy.
Activity: We will be uprooting Japanese Stiltgrass and other invasive plants around our sensitive upland depression swamp. We will teach you how to identify and remove the plants – no experience necessary.
Equipment: Bring a pair of gardening or work gloves to protect your hands. Wear long sleeves, long pants, and sturdy close-toed shoes. We will be working off of the main trails, so the ground may be wet, muddy, and uneven.
Supplies: Be prepared for summer conditions! Wear sunscreen and bug spray, and bring plenty of water to drink.
