The Search for the Spotted Lanternfly

Do you love your beer and wine? Tree fruit? This beautiful invasive insect is killing our beloved plants. Help stop the invasion!

Join us for a hands-on workshop to help you prepare for the spotted lanternfly, a new invasive insect in Prince William County. Merrimac Farm Chapter Virginia State Certified Master Naturalists and Prince William County Staff will lead participants on an hour walk to talk about spotted lanternfly ecology, host tree species, and steps that you can take to keep your trees healthy and resilient.

Following the walk, materials will be provided to construct your own mesh circle trap to help monitor for the spotted lanternfly on your property. A paper model activity will be available for kids (and adults!) along with additional related resources.

Meet at the Visitor Center which is about a 10 minute drive from the front gate.  There is a parking fee associated with this park.
