Rico Fleshman

Executive Director

Rico Fleshman was appointed Executive Director in September of 2021. Born and raised in Virginia, Mr. Fleshman is a graduate of Lynchburg College with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. He has a rich professional history in business development and serving non-profit organizations and has worked on programs at the federal, state, and local government levels that provided employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and established congestion mitigation, environmental and air quality improvement programs. His lifelong love of nature, camping and hiking fuels his passion for environmental education and advocacy. Rico can be reached at rfleshman@kpwb.org.

Kamala Espig

Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Kamala is a Virginia transplant who cannot imagine living anywhere else. Ms. Espig is a graduate of the University of Maryland, as well as The Art Institute of Pittsburg where she earned her BS in Graphic Design. She has a diverse background in non-profit, marketing, graphic design, and IT. She has a passion for mentoring, animals, and muscle cars. Ms. Espig is a mother of two children, two dogs, one cat, one snake, and several fish. When she isn’t wrangling all of them, you can find her advocating for BLM, and many local youth mentoring programs or playing video games. You can reach her at kespig@kpwb.org.

Amanda Brown

Community Engagement Manager

Amanda grew up in Missouri where she developed a deep love for the environment. Ms. Brown is a graduate of Missouri University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Philosophy, with a focus on environmental ethics and sciences. With her previous work, she developed a strong sense of community involvement and client relations. Her passions consist of helping others, gardening, reading, and hiking. As our Community Engagement Manager, she hopes to inspire others to welcome a more environmentally conscious and sustainable lifestyle. Amanda can be reached at abrown@kpwb.org.

Kylie McLatchy

Regional Team Leader VDOT/KVB Adopt-A-Highway Program

Kylie grew up in Virginia and spent a lot of her time exploring the natural world around her. Her love for nature drove her to get a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has experience doing outreach work for the National Park Service and the Fairfax County Park Authority. She enjoys gardening, animals, being outside, and teaching about environmental issues. Grace Benevento

Programs Assistant

Grace has a passion for learning and helping others. Ms. Benevento is a graduate of Potomac Senior High School and attributes her move to Virginia as a very positive step. She has an immense love of travel and learning different languages and hopes to classify one day as a polyglot. She is also a cat lover. Grace hopes that as our Programs Assistant she will not only be able to educate and inspire people her age to environmental consciousness, but also challenge herself.
