Neabsco Bandalong Litter Cleanouts

The Neabsco Bandalong is a floating contraption that sits in the Neabsco Creek collecting litter that flows downstream. Uncaptured, these various pieces of litter, such as plastic bottles or food packaging containers, can float from the Neabsco Estuary to the Potomac River, then to the Chesapeake Bay. Past cleanup efforts have removed thousands of littered items from the area.

Regular bandalong cleanouts are scheduled for the third Wednesday of every month. Only 4 to 5 volunteers are needed per cleanup. All volunteers are asked to bring waterproof boots and gloves. Additional cleanouts will be scheduled as needed; data from these cleanups can be provided upon request. Please contact Andrew Uglow at AUglow@pwcgov.org if you are interested in participating in a future cleanout!
