We’ve recently collaborated with the National Geographic Litter Tracker App to help keep track of our littered areas here in Prince William County.  The Marine Debris Tracker is for all types of litter, from what you find at the edge of a stream to what you find in your own backyard.  If you’re able to clean up what you find, we welcome before and after photos.  If you’re not able to pick up the litter, we do appreciate you sending in the photos so we can keep track of where litter may be accumulating.  This app was created through University of Georgia of Georgia and is made possible by the support of Morgan Stanley, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and National Geographic.  Here’s how to help us track and clean up litter, locally:

Marine Debris Tracker - Apps on Google Play

1. Download the Marine Debris Tracker App on your Android or iPhone

2. Take a look at the User Manual.  It will let you know how to get setup and properly recording your data!

3. Sign up on the App and select Keep Prince William Beautiful as your list (you’ll find us all the way at the bottom).

4. Get tracking! Don’t forget to post photos and add your location so we can better understand how litter is spread throughout the county.

5. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out at (571) 285-3772 or email Aleta at adaniels@kpwb.org

Thank you for doing your part to keep Prince William County clean, green, and beautiful!
